A man in his 80s died in a head-on crash on the A303.

The crash occurred on the A303 at Chilmark at around 3.35pm on Tuesday, April 30, when an Audi A4 travelling eastbound crashed head on with a westbound travelling Volkswagen Caravelle driven by a man in his 30s.

The driver of the Audi, a man in his 80s, was declared dead at the scene.

The driver of the Volkswagen was taken to hospital after suffering serious leg injuries, while a passenger in the Volkswagen, a woman in her 20s, suffered minor injuries.

The section of the A303 where the crash took place was closed overnight and reopened on the morning of Wednesday, May 1.

Police are now appealing to the public for any witnesses to the crash to come forward, including anyone who may have dashcam footage of the incident.
